POG Championship Entry #2 Scissors and Thread

Puzzle relayed to me from a friend

Your arms/hands, outstretched, are exactly 2 meters long from tip to tip. From the ceiling, two small threads, maybe about a pencil thick, hang from the ceiling, about 2.1 meters apart, so that they fall directly infront of your hands. You have an ordinary pair of scissors. If you reach in one direction, you can grab one string, but not the other. How can you grab both strings (have them both in your hands), without moving your feet?

<font color="white"> You could try to push the thread with the scissors, but you find that you cant get the thread to move far enough away from you to swing back towards you, this is because reaching, you can only get a tiny bit farther than the thread, also the scissors can't push the thread very well, which naturally (gravity) wants to hang down.</font>

<font color="white">tie the scissors to one of the strings, then swing that string back and forth until it stabs you in the face. call an ambulance, and when they show up ask them to help you grab both strings. They'll understand.</font>
