a pryor15 film: teaser number one
So I was going to embed the teaer in the thread like i saw Sniper do, but i'm not tech savvy enough to figure out how to do that.
So, failing that, you'll have to just go to the official gravida homepage. The teaser is very rough. No music yet, and we still need to get one or two shots, but here's the early look at it. there's all sorts of info on the making of in this thread |

pryor, its not grabbing my attention, and saying you must see this...
I think Words to the beginning and end, more scene slices in the middle?... and specifically, "a lucas mcnelly film" should be moved to the end after the "Gravida" and before "this spring". |

Re: a pryor15 film: teaser number one
thanks, sniper
the trick to selling this is that i'm trying to give as little of it away as possible before it actually screens (which means nothing here, obviously, but is more for people in pittsburgh), and with a film like gravida that's something of a slow-burning drama, there isn't a lot of catchy footage, you know? and what is catchy, gives away major plot points. but, yeah, it doesn't really jump out and grab you. but, it's a first teaser. i'll probably make 2 or 3 more, so i can play with it a little...i'm also trying to get better at editing trailers, which will in turn make me better at editing full films. as for the names, my theory is that our biggest selling point for a short is my name recognition (that sounds arrogant, but considering our actors are complete unknowns and it's just a short with an obscure name), so i'm hoping to lead with that, both to sell this one and establish a way to promote later stuff. maybe it'll work, maybe not. |

Then put the "lucas mcnelly" up front.
Don't want to give away the action?... then flip thru still shots on a delay with music that carries it all... btw, how long will the final cut of the film be, roughly? |

Re: a pryor15 film: teaser number one
i'm looking at something in the 20 minute range, maybe as long as 25
the later trailers, etc., will have more info in them. i mean, hell, this teaser's only got 3 shots in them and 2 are from the opening credits. maybe some context will help. i've gone to great effort to ensure that the only people who know what the film is about are the ones working on it directly (and dom, who i asked to give his imput on the plot for me). as in, this is the first time i've actually revealed who's the lead. (again, this is more for the local film scene than anything else) the stills aren't a bad idea, actually. i may try that next time |

Re: a pryor15 film: teaser number one
as I watched, I immediately thought of a quartet piece by Bach to suit it. Can't remember the name of the piece, but it has deep Cello notes at frequent intervals which would match the sudden reveals (or whatever you can it when you go from black to a shot).
Lookiing good to me. |
