Default Stealraise from the SB, $500 buy in live- Put SB and BB on a hand.

210 entries, 44 left, paying 18. started with 3000 chips and ave is now around 14,000. After posting, SB has 15,000, BB has 9000. Blinds are 400-800/100.

SB has raised BB one previous time when it was folded around and BB folded. BB has shown few hands- all of them solid.

Folded to SB- pot is 2000. SB raises to 2500. BB shoves. Pot is now 13,100 and SB has to put another 6500 to call.

If SB calls and loses, he'll be left with about 5500 (M= 2.5).

What are the ranges for the following:

SB's first raise?
BB's shove?
SB's call?

The more I think about it, i think the answer to all three questions is the same.

SB 1st raise = any pair
BB shove = TT
SB call = any pair that beats TT

you have to be prepared for the allin move from bb so i would want k high or 2 cards 10 or higher pp or ace. my shove range would be exactly the same my call range for sb is any hand i raise im calling. now you could raise w any 2 w idea you will muck a trash hand.

Steve- give me a range then.

Why can't SB raise with any two and then BB shove back with any two?

The question then becomes, is SB getting pot odds to call the shove with.... what?

Actually this presents quite an interesting scenario and ironically the SB may be better off throwing away some of his medium holdings here, but carrying on with any premium hands or crap that he opened to begin with.

Naturally SB calls with premium hands TT+, AJs+, AQo+, but after that, he could be in real trouble with dominated Aces or Kings and small pockets, whereas any two live cards stand up to better to the BBs range.

After the premium holdings, I say SB should call with cons and 1 gaps 10 through 6 and any two suited cards that were in his open betting range to begin with.

Call it Reckless1der's Pat, Crap, but no Trap theory.

from the reads..
sb doesnt steal much so i'd say he's opening AT+, 88+
bb is solid so he's pushing TT+, AK
sb's calling range is probably the same was the bb's pushing range?

too little information really... and i dont think that SB has to call with the lower end of his range due to BB's not being terribly out of line, and the fact that its a big chunk of his stack when he doesnt have very much invested.

SB making any raise w/out intending to call a push seems pretty bad.
