NL $5, top set on flop, ugly board on the river
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.02 BB (9 handed) internettexasholdem.com
Button ($1.04) SB ($4.91) BB (Calling2keepUhonest)/ ($1.89) UTG ($5.78) Hero ($5.18) MP1 ($2.98) MP2 ($4.94) MP3 ($2.97) CO (Villain)/ ($11.76) Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $0.06</font>, <font color="#666666">3 folds</font>, CO (Villain)/ calls $0.06, Button calls $0.06, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, BB (Calling2keepUhonest)/ calls $0.04. Flop: ($0.25) 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(4 players)</font> <font color="#CC3333">Calling2keepUhonest bets $0.02</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $0.14</font>, Villain calls $0.14, Button calls $0.14, Calling2keepUhonest calls $0.12. Turn: ($0.81) 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(4 players)</font> <font color="#CC3333">Calling2keepUhonest bets $0.02</font>, Hero calls $0.02, <font color="#CC3333">Villain raises to $0.28</font>, Button calls $0.28, Calling2keepUhonest calls $0.26, Hero calls $0.26. So what do I do here, there's a baby straight on the board, with 4 players. Any input? In hindsight, I think I should have bet 3/4 pot on the turn to get rid of some people. But I was very wary of that board, and having 4 people around didn't help. |

Re: NL $5, top set on flop, ugly board on the river
dont know much about FR but id raise the flop alot more to like .30-.4 since the board is drawy and we want to get as many ppl out of the hand as possible. As played i would just call on the turn as someone probably already has the straight and if the board pairs we are probably stacking... and river id just call behind and if someone makes a large raise just fold. **Conclusion: RAISE MORE ON THE FLOP!!!

Re: NL $5, top set on flop, ugly board on the river
Thanks for that, Villain had been raising pretty much every single flop he was involved in, so I was hoping he'd raise, but unforunatly he didn't.
I think I totally misplayed the hand. In the end I folded to a raise from Villain who held KT for 2 pair. |

Re: NL $5, top set on flop, ugly board on the river
I don't know about raising 20BB pre-flop with any hand. I think 5-6BB from ep (depending on how well you think you play post-flop) is standard isn't it?
The flop is where you probably want to bet x2 the pot. You could even be behind here, plus there's a FD. You have outs if raised. You're behind on the turn, but you do have PO to call with your outs to FH and quads. Fold river. |
