(NL25) Big draw in position. Should I raise more on flop? Bet turn?
No reads as this is maybe my 7th hand at the table. Villain obviously likes his hand. Should I raise more on the flop? Bet the turn or take the free card?

Re: (NL25) Big draw in position. Should I raise more on flop? Bet tu
I'd bet again.
He might be waiting to check-raise or he may not. The way he checked would make me think he's on a straight draw. either way - if we check now we're giving him a chance to bet into us on 5th where we'll have to throw our hand away if we miss our draw. If we bet now he'll either fold, call or re-raise. If he raises we're done with the hand. my 2 cents |

Why would I bet with a plan to fold to a check-raise? I have a huge draw and betting myself out of the hand doesn't seem right. I guess my real question is, "Is he folding enough if I bet to make a bet profitable?" And my follow-up would be, "And if I should bet, how much?" I only have King-high right now, so my bet definitely wouldn't be for value, it would be a semi-bluff. |

Re: (NL25) Big draw in position. Should I raise more on flop? Bet tu
I'm a fan of the check and bet any club on the river. I could probably find a small value call on the river should a K or Q fall. Here in general I'm thro with the hand.
The problem with betting here is what bet size do you want? I can not find a good sized bet to make without either appearing weak or having 1/2 our stack in the pot. What if we bet out 8, call and get bet into on the river when a K falls. Do we know he has no straight. Inflating the pot here seems a silly idea when we have no idea if we have outs OTHER than the flush. |

One of the advantages of raising good draws on the flop is that you often get the chance to draw for free on the turn if you're called on the flop.
I'd take the free card and go from there. There's no shame in folding to a river bet if you miss. |

Re: (NL25) Big draw in position. Should I raise more on flop? Bet tu
Hi All, new poster here so I'll throw in my 2 cents.
I don't think he folds often enough to make a bet profitable. He just called a large raise on the flop and the T9 straight draw just came in. Betting and folding to a check/raise is pretty bad because you're giving up a lot of equity, and getting your stack in with 20 - 30% equity is far from ideal. I'd take the free card. If the river is a K or Q you can value bet it if checked to and if he leads, all you really beat is a bluff. He could even be slowplaying a set based on his PF limp, call. |
