Default dropping a class.. looked down by top firms?

Is dropping a class in college looked down upon when employers look at a candidate's transcript? I've heard from some that they throw your resume out if they see you've dropped a class, or some formulate a "slacker" opinion or think you're gpa is skewed.

I'm currently getting a C in a humanities class, when I'm a business major. What should I do? btw, the highest i can get is a B now, most liekly C+

I have never had a potential employer really look at my transcript. They get it and send it straight to HR.

from what I understand its not that big a deal, but tney may ask you why you dropped it during the interview. My transcript had a K on it for incomplete (ongoing project hadnt been finished) and I got a few interviews. Nobody asked about it however. All the questions were about the cover letter and the CV (resume for you americans)

During an interview, I've never been asked about my transcript. However, some HR departments think they are God. So every one at the company can love you, but if HR feels you have a blemish - good luck. This blemish can come from transcript items if they did that far, the psychological/personality tests that have become popular, etc. So it depends - companies with a history of poor performance by a previous employee will be more detailed if they believe a 'warning sign' was dropped college classes.

First off, quick question...when does the employer see your transcript. Do they request it from your school after they're done looking at your resume?

I don't think it's that big of a deal if you did well in other classes

Will the transcript say "dropped" or just show a lighter load?

If it's just lighter load, I don't see why they'd care as long as you're on pace to graduate on time. If it says dropped, that could look bad. I'd say if it's gonna say dropped, only drop it if you feel like it'll put your cume GPA in danger. I've heard of some employers having the transcript for interviews, but I'm not sure how big of a factor it is.

If someone went to the trouble of ordering your transcript, your resume is not getting chucked. Most resumes hit the circular file before background investigation (of which transcript view is a part) commences. Background checks are time-consuming and therefore, expensive. If the company invests in a background check, a W on a transcript will not be enough for them not to go through an interview, the worst case, you won't be called in first, and someone might get to impress the company before you do.
