Few hours into live play, Hero and Villian have $700 behind and Villian has shown down some marginal hands from EP. A few minutes prior Villian raised UTG with ATo and played a $500 pot OOP on a ten high flop.
Villian makes it $20 to go from EP, Hero has two red Jacks and pops it to $65 straight. Villian calls. Flop 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Villian checks. Hero bets $120, Villian min-raises to $240. How should I have played this hand after he checked? How about after he makes the min-raise? All feedback is appreciated and I hope to talk this through. |

flop bet is too big. 70-80 is plenty. Your bet size really makes it difficult for him to continue with worse. As played, very easy fold.

You have position here. I would call and reeval turn.
I would put him on either a set of 9s or a decent spade draw at this point. I think AA or KK RRs PF since he is OOP. QQ might flat call but less likely to CR flop like this. I also agree with point that flop bet is too large here. Your bet feels like you don't want action. |

I was thinking along the same lines, that AA, KK, and maybe QQ would have RR PF. I thought he could have 99, TT, or AsKs at this point.
And I need serious work on the size of my bets and they are way out of proportion in this hand and others. |

Why would he raise here with a spade draw when he can call and see the turn? If he is on spade draw and I RR then he's screwed, no?
