Default NOT MY POST>>>>MUST BE ANSWERED

Talking to a friend of mine a a table. He tells me a story where in a live game the nuts are on the board. When player 1 bets, players two says "call" and mucks his hand.

Who wins the pot?

Depends on the club.
Some places, Player 2 must show his hand, period. Even if there is a Royal Flush on the board.
Some places, Player 2 must declare 'I am playing the board' before he mucks. Even if there is a Royal Flush on the board.
Some places, the board plays, and the pot is split.

At an Indiana casino, when there is a showdown, you must show both hole cards to be awarded the pot. YMMV.

In a contested hand, you must table your hand to claim part or all of the pot, period.

I would be a nice guy personally and chop the pot if the other player mucked his cards, but I would be pissed if the floor made a decision to chop the pot. Having a live hand in poker is a must to win any part of the pot.

As far as "In fairness to the game", mucking your cards is giving up your interest in the pot, and the player did not protect himself.

Everywhere I have played, you must show two cards to win. I understand that some places don't require this, but if the rule is show two cards, mucker gets nothing AND must put his called bet in to the pot... if the mucker was clueless, the other player would be right to not make mr. clueless put the extra bet in the pot.
