$20 SnG
Down to 5 players, top 3 get paid.
Blinds are 30 60.. Big stack in CO has roughly 5000 or so I'm on button with roughly 3000 (2nd in chips) Big stack raises from CO to 170. I call on the button with AK. Big blind pushes for 900 more. CO cold calls the 900.. I.........? |

Re: $20 SnG
Sorry at work don't have the HH..
This guy has only showed down quality cards.. although he has been aggressive when he got to showdown he usually has the goods.. Let's estimate the following stack sizes.. CO - 5000 ME(Button) - 3000 small blind - 2500 BB - 1200 or so UTG - 1500ish have been an early AA KK elimination and an AK that beat AA twice.. once with a straight and once with a set of Kings on the flop... I'm more worried about the fact that do you cold call along with the big stack, do you reraise, or do you fold.. |

Re: $20 SnG
I think you have to fold. The BB has plenty of chips, so he must have a hand (I doubt he's trying a squeeze against the two big stacks). The CO only called as opposed to pushing in order to isolate against the BB. Either he's not afraid of you coming along or perhaps he's asking you to come and just check it down, but why get involved with the big stack at this point? You're in great position and the blinds are tiny, why take a coin flip now?

Re: $20 SnG
You could call and then check it down with Big Stack/CO, giving you very good odds of one of you eliminating the small stack who is all in.

Re: $20 SnG
I like both of your thought processes and these were both immediate thoughts I had. I'm not sure if this guy is smart enough to check it down, he could be the type to bet the flop regardless. But I like the thinking, this is the same line I was on...

Re: $20 SnG
If you find out now if he will check it down, you can do the same to try to eliminate the small stack thereafter when he pushses with his small to medium pair.
You could also hit a big hand. To take it one step further, if he is aware enough to check it down, then you also have a future check down river bluff coming up, if the situation presents itself. I don't think it's worth folding unless you know that the big stack will bet on the flop. |

Re: $20 SnG
I understand the thought, but I think your chip stack and the fact that it's so early in the SNG makes this a fold. Also, what are you going to consider a "big hand" at this point. Say an A comes on the flop - are you comfortable? You have to figure that both have either a pocket pair or Ax. You could easily find yourself behind a set or two pair. If it was later in the game, I wouldn't worry about it, but it seems like an unnecessary risk this early. Remember, the BB pushed with 20xBBs, so he likely has a solid hand.
I don't want to be results oriented, but I'm curious - what happened in this hand? |
