3/6 what\'s my line on this nasty river...?
Villain is unfortunately unknown. He just sat down and this is like the 3rd hand he plays...
3/6, 5 handed Hero is BB w/A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Preflop: 2 fold, BTN open limps, SB completes, Hero Raises , both call Flop: Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (6SB, 3 players) SB checks, Hero Bets , BTN calls, SB folds Turn: T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (4BB, 2 players) Hero Bets, BTN Raises, Hero 3Bets , BTN calls River: Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (10BB, 2 players) Hero... C/F? C/C? B/C? B/F? What line is best here, and why is it better than the other options? |

wow this sucks. i'd probably check/call if he's bluffy, bet/fold otherwise. the thing is he probably wont raise a queen.

i dont like the turn three bet. i call down from the raise unless the 4 or 5 pair.

Re: 3/6 what\'s my line on this nasty river...?
I think bet fold is the best line although I realize at that point the pot will be pretty big. Check calling really doesn't have any value given the turn action and the river card. I also call down from the turn since this is QT the majority of the time.

Re: 3/6 what\'s my line on this nasty river...?
I'm not sure about my turn line either. The fact that he open-limped on the button lowers the change of him holding AQ or KQ since he would have likely raised those hands. On the other hand we can't really give a BTN open-limper credit for playing a hand in a solid way.
But reviewing the hand I think B/C Turn C/C river would have been a better line, but I'm prolly oriented by the results (just like other posted that suggested b/c on the turn? ) Anyway, I Bet the river and folded to a raise... |

Re: 3/6 what\'s my line on this nasty river...?
If you c/c the river after the turn 3-bet any thinking villain will know you have scared A's or K's looking for a free showdown a LOT. With that in mind I dont think there is a lot of value in c/c against good players.
Bet/folding rivers in big pots against unknowns on scarecards suck IMO. I cant c/f either so I guess that leaves b/c which I would hate as well. What to do when all options suck..? b/c and shut down the tables if he has Qx. |

Re: 3/6 what\'s my line on this nasty river...?
River card like that sucks in this spot. Villain is unknown. Check/call. You lose value from a ten, save a bet vs. a queen, and sometimes make a bet from KJ (he IS unknown)
In SSSH, not every play is going to feel clean and smooth. Sometimes you have to cringe. Basically you can't make the "right" play here withtout a good read. |

" Making bad calls costs a lot less than making bad folds. "
