My table has been rock solid tight. I've been playing pretty tight but opening up my game a little recently due to the table. Very few flops are sseen and very few hands are shown down. My oppent appears to be solid (only been here a level and a half) and I haven't seen show down any hands. I am also really hungover.
Blinds 100/200 last hand before break. My stack: 12k Villan's stack: 11k Hand: AdTh UTG folds. Every player behind me beside CO and Button get up and leave. BB grunts. I make 600. Button calls. Big blind calls. Flop: Tc2s3s Big blind checks. I bet 1200. Button folds. Big blind makes it 4500 total and gives me a glaring stare like he wants to kill me. Please note he is about 120lbs. |

Id call and push a non-spade turn. There are so many hands that are even at the flop, and villain knows it that I wouldn't give him an opportunity to get his chips in here.

I think this hand you'll be fighting for all your chips.
This is an insta fold. BB probably notices you've loosened up a little on their nice friendly table and he's going to push you around and probably has a hand and it's probably a set. If the table is quiet I would focus on stealing blinds not getting into huge confrontations with tight players. Steal his blinds the next few orbits and get your money back. |

I feel like a lot of people check raise in this spot with a draw. This could either be 45 or 2 spades. He could even have something like 10 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. Another consideration is that he has 22 or 33 in the hole. I personally would bet out with the sets in this spot, but he may be trying to trap you for that extra bet. Remember that he might be thinking he can trap both you and the button before he check raises his monster.
The glaring stare usually means a bluff, but maybe he just likes to stare down everyone. I feel like even if you are ahead right now, it wont be by that much because of the possible draws... you could also be crushed if he happens to have a set. Another thing I would consider is that it is right before break. If he had air here, I think he would just be content to fold and go on his break. I never like losing a ton of chips on a bluff right before a break, but maybe that is just me. |

[ QUOTE ]
since the table is so tight why cant JJ, QQ 10 10 be a big part of his range? [/ QUOTE ] Possible but we have to take into account that he is going to reraise those a fair amount of the time so it decreases their probability by an unknown % which depends on the player. The flush draw is more likely. No reason he could not have a set also, but I think a combo draw is most likely. I generally think the stare down is weakness but a good player could give you mixed signals |
