Re: Best chips to use for home game ?
The best you can afford, of course.
Lots of people are fans of the Nexgen, which are the nicest budget chip around. I was using the standard "dice" cheapo chip until a couple of weeks ago when I upgraded to Nexgen, and most everyone went "oooh". They look, feel, and sound pretty good for the price. |

The nexgen samples i have seen are really nice. Snag those if the price is ok for you.
If you need a REALLY cheap option there is the "Las Vegas Pro Clay". Type that in the search on ebay. you can get 1000 for about $50. They're cheap plastic, but they stack really nice, have a decent feel, and i actually like them better than a bunch of chips that are more expensive. |

Best chips to use for home game with 40 people ? [/ QUOTE ] You really need to set a budget, decide how many chips you need, which denominations, account for rebuys, etc.. Try this: http://www.homepokertour.com/chip_calculator.php If it were me, I'd buy a cheap tournament set. Probably some custom (for security) hot stamped super diamonds. I'd go with T1500 in starting stacks, no rebuys, and 25, 100, 500, and 1000 denominations (just like my local casino). |

Re: Best chips to use for home game ?
I am going to assume a tourney here. One your main problems will be getting the denominations right so you can run a 40 man tourney. 1000 chips might not be enough.
Here is an example: Starting with t1,000 100-7 x40=280 25-11 x40=440 5-15 x40=600 That looks like a 1500 chip set with the following content: 100-300 25-550 5-650 You should have enough to chip up the 5s as well. This is really a minimum case scenario with a 100BB starting stack with 5/10 starting blinds. You could add a 5/5 blind level to make is slightly deeper. Personally, I would get some less expensive chips first. Then, after some experience you can alter the denominations and then go for a nice set. Although you could go for a nice set right off the bat if you accept that you will likely have to buy some more to account for potential cash games or rebuy tourneys, etc. I think my main point is that you shouldn't just buy a big set of chips and accept whatever denominations it comes with. You really should go through an exercise like I did above. |

If this is a cash game, good clay ones that can't easily be counterfeited/brought into the game.

Re: Best chips to use for home game ?
I picked up a chip set at http://www.chipcustomizer.com since they had a customizable poker chip set that you do at home. Makes pretty sweet chips where you can put your face on them and stuff. That's the one I would recommend.
