Default Better way to handle this?

This came up in a 15/30 game. The dealer here is consistently lazy and inattentive but I’ve never personally had a dispute with him.

It’s hu on the turn and I have the virtual nuts. Villian bets, I call. The dealer leaves the bets out and puts down the river. Villian bets again and I cut out 12 chips behind my 6 from the turn. I look up and see that my opponent is about to turn his hand up but that he hasn’t called the last bet, so I speak up and say that I raised. The guy pulls his cards back and kind of hesitates. After a pause the dealer looks over at me expectantly (he’s been staring down at the felt in front of himself this whole time). I say that I raised and the dealer responds by looking back down at the felt and mumbling something I can’t make out. Nothing happens for a second and so I state again that I raised. The dealer again mumbles something without looking up. So I say, “Look, I have 3bets out, he has two. Did you bring in just his turn bet or something?” The dealer then reaches over and grabs one of the other guys bets and says “bet”, then he grabs the other one and says “raise” and then looks back at me as if this actually answers my question. At this point the other player flipped over his cards.

I really had no clue what was going on. I didn’t want to freeze up the whole game over one bet I’m not sure was missing, but I also can’t understand why it was so hard for the dealer to finish the action or explain what was going on. I ended up just flipping over my cards and dragging the pot. Is there anything else I should have done here?

It's a tough spot. I would probably just eat the $30 unless I was nearly 100% sure that the pot was shorted. Even then, sometimes it's worth it to make a scene, sometimes it's not.

If you're sure and it's worth it, just refuse to flip your cards and tell the dealer that your opponent owes another bet (I would interpret him flipping over his cards as believing that he called). Make him count down the pot, and call "floor!" if he resists.
