want to buy God of War 2 - should i play through GoW 1 first?

What do you guys think?

Sometimes playing the original isn't always worth it. Which is the case here?

God of War 1 is one of the best games ever made. Absolutely play through it, it will only take you 20 hours maximum on the harder difficulties.

Ya, you can get it for $20, it's great, and not that long. GoW is int he style of Devil May Cry 1 and 3, if you've played those.

Most definitely. One of my favorite games ever. The original got close to a perfect or a perfect score in most game magazines/websites. You can pick it up for very cheap, I guarntee you won't be disappointed. You can beat it on easiest mode in a not to long amount of time and see everything minus a few unlocked goodies. Beating it on God Mode is a huge challenge, but worth it for the extra you unlock.

Highly, highly recommended. One of the few games I'd almost guarntee you'll fall in love with.

The story of the second one is greatly dependant upon the first, so yes.

Forget 20 hours...you should be able to knock it out in around 10.

I saw it for 14.99 at Target last week.

circuit city is selling it for 10 dollars this week if you buy gow 2 i believe.

definitely worth ten dollars- not even close!

It will be hard, but if I was you honestly I would try to beat God of War first before opening GOWII. GOW1 has a kickass story, kickass gameplay, kickass unlockables upon completion, so much. Shouldn't take you long to see all the good stuff, then you can get started on GOWII.

I'm buying GOWII tommorow, I'm so excited and I got about 4 days off from school to spend playing just it.

It's a fun romp, short but pretty & action-packed & without too many stupid puzzles, worth $20

if you're into replaying the same story on higher difficulty settings then there's a fair amount of replay value...it's a decent challenge even on normal and there are two settings above that

Without a walkthrough I don't think you can finish it that fast, unless you're damn good. It took me over 2 hours to beat that damn spinning "tower of fate" or whatever its called.
