Default Awesome indie games

The other day I found a shareware game that's so cool, I may actually buy it. It's called Armadillo Run and it's a physics-based sandbox puzzle game. It's been out for a while but in case you haven't tried it yet...you're missing out.

Anybody ever actually buy a shareware game? What was it like? Was it scary?

Interesting game. I can see how it would get very hard.

Following some links brought up this nice page which had some other nice ones.

I have a friend who bought a shareware game recently, from davegilbert.com I believe. It's an adventure game about Judaism and Rabbis or something. IIRC, he said the process of purchasing the game was not quite scary, but really haunting.

Amateur adventure games are often very good. If you were a big fan of Sierra/Lucasarts point-and-click games, the "5 Days a Stranger" series is very solid.

http://adventuregamestudio.co.uk/ is a good starting point.

The only shareware games I ever buy are ones where the game is awesome, is cheap, and the shareware version isn't merely a freeware version with a "click here to continue" annoyance. I bought a cheap variation on Risk called Conquest.

Ok, my brother and I got into it and now I'm through the Armadillo Run demo with 602 remaining. Any challengers?

Have you heard of The Incredible Machine? It's similar to Armadillo Run, although it's much older.

44 / 130 / 100 / 72 / 188 / 76 = 610
