is the HOH workbook worth getting? [/ QUOTE ] It has it's critics, but I say definately! no one is going to agree with all of his reasoning/ scoring (im one) but I think it's excellent. If you have 1 & 2, you should have 3 |

I just finished HOH3 today, and I really got a lot from it. It's good to read along and have to committ to an answer and really deeply think about each decision. You get the experience of being in the hand, but you have TIME to actually think through everything that you don't have time for at the table. I've found that my play and profits have been heavily impacted by reading this. It's good for tournament but also cash because it's just good poker. Obviously in cash, the M's and bubble stuff is not as useful, but extracting maximum chips and protecting your stack are universal. As JJay said, I don't agree with every decision, but you can at least appreciate Dan's rationale for making that decision.
It's also good for some validation. I was happy to find that I scored very well on the 'test'. It's always good to hear that you are on the right track. The 'Categories of Errors' is great too. Using Dan's rating system, I was able to detect 3 or 4 poor tendencies I have that are costing me $$$. Now, I plan to go over the hands that I missed and see how I would improve my play. Hats off to Dan for a great series. I can't wait to read the Cash series. |
