We've all heard Mr. Matusow constantly berate others, talk up a storm, and/or try to coach others on becoming a better player, etc....Given that he's a constant loser (live and online), do others in the poker community really respect his game or comments/advice?
I've seen him get really unlucky online (like almost every day), but have also seen him play poorly too. Game-wise, I don't think he's that great. But of all the guys out there, he seems to blame it on bad luck the most. On top of that, he loves to coach "newer or lesser" players all the time. Do people respect his game/advice? -TheMan |

How about the fact that his tournament results are better than you could ever dream for, or 95% of the people on this forum for that matter. But no, lets all jump on the I-HATE-MATUSOW-FLAME-BOAT. Sigh.

Sigh. [/ QUOTE ] Mrs. Matusow, we're sorry that your son doesn't get the respect that you think your son deserves. The fact is that your son was paid by the other players to stay in the high stakes game (because they correctly assumed there was a good chance he would give all of his money back. Negreanu and other players drool when they see him coming to the table. Is the OP's question a bit silly? Certainly. Does Matusow have more knowledge than the game than the OP (or me)? Probably, if not definitely. Does that forfeit our right to criticze him? Of course not. |

I have played with Mike and he's one of the nicest guys I've ever met. Unlike some of the other poker 'celebrities' that were there, Mike took time to chat with us little guys, wasn't completely self-obsessed, and didn't pull any celebrity strops. He even offered some genuinely good advice (although I think he would be out of his depth discussing strategy here at 2+2). I think as a poker player he is inconsistent, ranging from terrible to excellent, depending on his mood and the day.

Mike Matusow is what all the pros say he is. Either really bad or really good. We have all seen it both ways. So when he is on, yes. His tournament results show he is a very consistant.
