y'know, i grew up by a military base (ft. bragg) and never heard this kind of an opinion from the G.I.'s. It's a volounteer military, your friend gets paid VERY well for his skill sets, and he's been paid in full.

Maybe "owe him" respect... that would be a little fair to say.
