Stars 3/6 button v. BB battle What\'s your line?
PokerStars 3/6 Hold'em (6 handed) pokerhand.org hand converter
BB (33/9/1.07 over 100 hands) has been running badly at this table and has been doing a lot of calling. I won the previous 3 hands (only showing down once) before this one came up Preflop: Hero is Button with 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. 3 folds, Hero raises, 1 fold, BB calls. Flop: (4.33 SB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) BB bets, Hero raises, BB calls. Turn: (4.16 BB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) BB checks, Hero checks. River: (4.16 BB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) BB bets, Hero calls. Final Pot: 6.16 BB I'm interested in feedback on all streets. Is flop raise too aggressive? Is turn check too weak? Does anyone fold river here? |

I wouldn't raise the flop. I don't think your hand is too strong on this board. I would consider calling the flop and raising a safe turn. If BB bet this turn again, I'm done with the hand.

Re: Stars 3/6 button v. BB battle What\'s your line?
I'm thinking that you should either play it like you played it or fold the flop. I'd probably play like you did. On the turn if you're ahead and bet villain probably folds so the only way to get anything out of him is by checking and hope he takes a shot on the river with the worse hand. If you're behind on the turn and bet you'll probably get raised and have to fold so you still pay the same when behind but may win an extra bet when ahead by taking this line. Of course, the time when this is wrong is when villain has a 9 because when he's got a 9 he's probably folding the turn with the best hand when you bet. However, I don't think he's got a 9 here. Why's he betting out against a pre-flop agrressor with top pair here.
I haven't played a hand in over 3 months though so don't mind me if this sounds like incoherent rambling. |
