I think I hate my job.
Sometimes I fool myself into thinking that I like it, but overall I really dislike being there.
It's not that the people are bad. They are decent for the most part. The work is just stressful, boring and unfulfilling, not to mention of little good to the world. Do a lot of people that work in offices feel this way? I haven't done it for too long, so maybe it gets better. Right now, I feel like Peter Gibbons. I am not in the same shape I was 6 months ago, and much less happy. I just feel like it's not what I should be spending my precious time that I'm alive doing. Can you make me come home from work and think I've been fishing all day? ~AS |

Can you make me come home from work and think I've been fishing all day? [/ QUOTE ] Only if you start a fishing show on TV. The real question you have to ask yourself (regardless of your age) is "What do I want to be when I grow up?" So far the only answer I can come up with is "retired" and I haven't saved enough for that yet. |

Re: I think I hate my job.
Are you married? kids?
If not: Make a getaway plan. What would you really enjoy doing? Career change, travel, whatever. Work for less money at something satifying, take a trip to India, just take the plunge and you will see that things tend to come together. Embrace change and Im pretty sure you will look back and say "why didnt I do this before?". |

regardless of whether or not you have a wife and kids you should make a plan to get out. Figure out how to make money at what you love to do.

Re: I think I hate my job.
It's not a matter of making money - I am "getting experiance" or so I tell myself.
I have a very small business and poker at which I could make as much or more than my job. I just feel like leaving within the first year would be giving up too quickly. Maybe I'll start to like it and learn some lessons. But I do know that my job will not be a career. I do know that working a job for someone else as a career is not for me - not a stressful one anyway. Also no, not married, no kids. 22 and single. I think I ended up in this situation largely as a result of parental pressures. ~AS |
