facing river aggression from passive players (NLCASH)
both hands are against the same player. he's passive and has only raised postflop a few times in the hour we've played.
i'm interested in how often people think i'm good in these hands. especially in the first hand, i'm having trouble putting him on a range of hands i beat. 2/4 nl. in both hands the effective stacks are about 450 or so. i have AA in the BB. i raise to 12. he calls. 964 (24) he checks; i bet 16; he calls. J (56) he checks; i bet 41; he calls. Q (138) he checks; i bet 101; he crai for 250 more. now i have to call 250 to pick up 500 or so. am i good 1/3? second hand though he's still playing passive, he's started running his mouth, calling me a fish, etc. etc. i raise Q10 to 12 on the button. he calls. flop AQ9 (24) he checks; i bet 24; he calls. turn Q (72) he checks; i bet 52; he waits for awhile and calls. river K (176) he pushes for 308; i? |

Re: facing river aggression from passive players (NLCASH)
Most of the time in heads up many players will try to be extremely conservitive on hands and will not play many hands with complete rags. On that seconed hand the player was just tagging along behind u for the whole hand. He was either waiting for something and he got it, or he was trying to bluff u into thiking that he had a str8. I doubt that he actually had the str8 because on the off chance that he did have j10 im not sure that he would have called on the flop. Question does this player play tight or not?

[/ QUOTE ] My initial thoughts are: call (unhappily) on hand one (still not sure about this), and fold hand two. The draw came through, and he might be counting on you not being able to let go. Plus, there are hands he could beat you with other than straights. Having trips on that board isn't exactly a monster is all I'm saying. Bullzeye, why don't you think he would call the flop with JT? edit: on second thought, in the first hand, we can really only beat a bluff. While I think that turn and river make for good bluffing opportunities, I can't assume he's bluffing >= 1/3 of the time without a read. So, sans read, I fold. |
