Very new to this game
I hadn't been paying much attention but table was tight so I think villain was taggish. Is it standard to reraise in this spot out of position or call to disguise my strength? I was a little torn but decided to build a pot. What if there was a caller? Standard flop bet/fold? So call pre is standard?
To build or disguise? |

I generally call this type of hand in multi-way pots since a reraise won't scare away those who have called before you. However, since you are already heads-up here, a pre-flop pot raise is generally appropriate (unless your opponent is looking for any excuse to get all his chips in pre-flop, which happens more than it should in O8). Unfortunately in this case, the flop did not cooperate.

I really dont understand all of the posts on here with PLO8 hands recently where people dont reraise pot preflop but instead do this weird 1/2 to 3/4 pot thing... just strange preflop

Why wouldn't I want to get all my chips in pre against that type of opponent??

Doofus, if you are new to PLO8 then there is never, ever a reason to NOT get all your chips in with any AAWx hand vs. any opponent, when possible.
Post flop decision making is the key to this game, but at the same time it's the hardest to learn. Taking that aspect out of consideration is what you'd want to do here, and you will have the best hand at least 90% of the time. This is why I prefer NLO8, but that's a different subject. As played then you have to fold the flop. Sucks, because he may well be bluffing, but it's not worth it to find out. I'd put a note on him and look at what he shows down the next time he comes over the top of someone on a scary board. A lot of your better tags (or at least the well-bankrolled ones) will pot a board like that quite often with just about any A2 hand. Not as common below PL 200, but with the games somewhat thin you'll see those guys slumming once in a while. |

You failed to practice hand reading - if you've seen 2 aces, and someone raise from EP in front of you, it's highly likely three aces are accounted for. That means villain, if he has any kind of hand standards at all, has to have exactly A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]LLx. Which is exactly the case that rolls you the worst.
