Default A 3-bet with AJo.

8/16 at the Wynn. 8-handed game is 6-handed for a couple orbits with two people walking.

SB is total LAG.
BB is a little loose, plays well postflop.
CO is tight, very ABC.

CO opens, I 3-bet AJo on the button, SB calls, BB calls, CO calls.

Flop-12SB: 964r. Checked to me, I bet, call, call, CO folds.

Turn-7.5BB: J. Checked to me, I bet, SB raises, BB hesitates and says "I gotta call." I 3-bet(which leaves me with only 2 BB in my stack)...

Whaddya think?

based on your read it sounds like you played it fine. if they both call and check to you on a blank river, you betting? what if the river is an 8 or a King?

I hear you. Point taken. I was only shortstacked because I was down to the end of the $800 I brought to play in the game. I know it is only 50 BB and I was aware that I was down to 7 BB as this hand was being dealt.

BTW, I didn't sense that the amount of my stack had any bearing on this hand, but thought I should make mention of it. I still have a limited amount of live play under my belt and buying in for $800 still has the feel of a significant amount of cash. My plan was to cut and run to the 4/8 if the game was too tough or if I ran badly as I had two more nights in Vegas. .

I should have mentioned the turn put a flush draw up as well, so there would be plenty of cards that could hit their wide ranges. They did both just call my 3-bet and I was certain BB had either a draw or TPGK, since he was clearly not happy SB raised the turn.

I was planning to bet any card that looked reasonably safe. To try to get a read on any card that looked dangerous. And to go for the emmy on an A, J or 4. .

The only possible potential problem I see is here:

"CO is tight, very ABC.

CO opens [raises], I 3-bet AJo on the button"

The rest is fine.

I guess the question could be.. how tight is "tight". If he is pseudo-TAG, 3-betting here w/ AJ is fine since his range will be much larger w/ him opening in the CO.

To me your play seems fine. BB's "gotta call" pretty means he is on the flush draw. Raiser is LAG so he could easily have Jx. You say he is a total LAG so I wouldn't necessarily put him on two pair. This is a value raise.
