Sunday Mill, JTs in CO M=6
Saw this hand on another forum, tourney was Sunday Million
Blinds: 600/1200 Ante: 40 Hero Stack: +/- 13000 he didnt mention the other players stacks except for BB who had 73k, ill assume the rest were mid stacks No reads on noone whatsoever. Hero was in CO w/ JTs, its folded around to him, he called and the rest doesnt really matter i said that probably would be best for him to shove preflop, his M was 6. Would a shove preflop be the best play or a 3xBB raise? i know that the call was bad... |

Re: Sunday Mill, JTs in CO M=6
Calling preflop is beyond bad... it is actually funny.
I would shove preflop but a fold could also be justified if the button/blinds were loose. I prefer a fold to a 3xbb raise in this spot. |

What is up with this small ante?
If the players behind are tight, I like raising to t3000 and folding to a push. If the players behind are loose, I think I just fold this. With a shorter stack I would push. |

What are you going to do if BB calls your 3000 raise, the flop contains a Q or K, and the BB bets 4K ?
I think this is a Shove or Fold situation. |

Re: Sunday Mill, JTs in CO M=6
Pushing here is very cEV+ compared to folding. I don't agree that raising to 3xBB is worse than folding. Basically, it is better to push, because if you get called, you are at a disadvantage postflop with position, that is you can be stop and goed.
I don't mind open limping with 11xBB, but this is a bad hand to do it with. With a medium strength hand for your positon, just push. If you limp, you probably have to fold to a push. If you are not raised, you don't have that big an advantage postflop. Limping JTs would be OK from middle position where you can't push it. From the button, you could limp QQ-AA or weaker hands than JTs. IMO Pushing > raising > limping > folding. |

In this case we are unlikely to get restolen from, and can take it down with less risk/reward ratio. Is the ante really as juicy as t400? In this case I open shove this without much thought, at any table conditions. |

40 should be the correct ante. Definately not 400. Even the wildest structures for live tournaments wouldn't have 400.

I meant to confirm that 'Ante is 40' but I typed an extra '0' OP says M is 6 so the ante has to be 40. Sorry if anyone else was mislead by my last post. I still think that: Shove > Fold > Standard Raise > Limp |

Agree with Cornell, with one provision: if the players behind are ubertight and you know you're CRUSHED if you're reraised, open raising then folding is ok. This happens so rarely I don't really think it matters much, but I've seen it.
