Is it conceivable that if I do this long enough, I will become known as the gay guy who refuses to take the hooker flyer by saying 'I'm a homosexual' and sometimes by pointing to myself and saying 'mariposa'? If so, how long would it take for them to stop even offering me the flyer if I did this every day?

(For the record, I am not gay. I just do weird stuff to amuse myself and others.)

'mariposa'? You are a butterfly? They must get a kick out of that. The term you want does start with 'm'.

Mariposa is the slang term for a homosexual in Guatemala. Muñeca will work in much of Mexico.
