Default Do you think this player was cheating...? (Random Home game)

Friendly $.5/$1 Cash game
-SB in this hand is hosting the game at his house.

7 handed.
SB (about $150)
BB ($200+)
Preflop: 5 folds, SB makes it $5, BB calls.

Flop: A J J rainbow
SB bets 10, BB calls.

Turn J
SB bets 25, BB calls

River 4
SB bets 120 (all-in), BB calls.

BB flips over A10. SB flips over one of his cards which is a jack and dealer ships him the pot. We are about to move on to the next hand when one of my friends at table ask him what his other card was, since he has not mucked his hand yet. SB refuses to show it saying it doesnt matter. I said "yes you do, I promise you just show it please." He replies "NO I DONT HAVE TO.." in a very strong annoyed tone.

At this point im thinking wow WTF is this guy being a dbag. I ask him why its such a big deal to show and that he needs to calm down. He says "Its not a F***ing rule". IS he just being an [censored] or should I expect him to possibly have been cheating. I wanted to flip over his 2nd card but since it was his house and stuff I didnt want to look like an ass. I left the house shortly after just confused by what happened. If I was smart I would of asked to count the deck or something, but I really didnt expect cheating. Now the more I think about it why wouldnt he just show his second card....? I dont know him that well ( hes a neighbor of a good friend) so he could very well be cheating.

It is a f***ing rule. Either he shows the second hand or the dealer kills his hand and pushes the pot to AT. Then the dealer spreads and sorts the deck to show off the fact that there are now magically 5 J's, followed shortly by the screams of pain from Jx as he picks up an acquired taste for KITNs.

I'm feeling like 90% that he just had a [censored] jack, like J2, and didn't want to show that he raised with that.

Yeah you're probably right. However, theres no way I would have given him the pot without showing the card. Those are the rules.

No, while it is considered a standard rule in many places, it may NOT be a rule in this game.

the man had quads , the other card doesn't matter at all. and if he was cheating ,say he held JJ, he could have very easily flipped over the "wrong" jack. and "if" he was cheating b4 long u'd see the same cards on the board , or somone would say i have a 3c and theres one on the flop also.

I agree with earlier poster that he was probably playing some garbage hand like J2 for a raise and didn't want anyone to see.

If the rule for your home game is that both cards must be shown then he should have shown. It doesn't sound like this was the case though as you wrote that the dealer pushed him the pot based on his one card and you were all about to move on to the next hand when someone asked to see the other card.

In a casino he would have to show both cards.

SB is a dick for not just flipping his cards when he was called. I JUST made that announcement at my home game because I saw it start to happen where the bettor would get called and slow the game down trying to get their opponent to show out of turn.

SB deserves a KITN for being a dick at his own friggin' game.
