How much do you fear draws? (NLTRN)
First hand of the game, you're on the button and get Ah Kd. You put in a 3x bb raise, BB calls.
The flop is K89 with two clubs and BB checks. Do you: a) bet big (2/3 pot, and possibly scare villain off) b) bet small (1/3 pot, hoping to look weak or string him along), or c) check (hoping he'll catch something, but not a straight or flush)? d) one of the above, depending on mood. e) other |

Re: How much do you fear draws?
I don't think you check this early in the match with no information, I feel more comfortable slowplayin based on prior reads mostly, or obviously if you have some sort of monster.
I like closer to a 2/3 bet here because the avg player at my level (10) will give you a lot of value with a weak ace, pocket pair or even gutshot. But I don't think you want to get trick with TPTK on the first hand of a HUSNG at any level. Oh, and I assume this is a NLHUSNG. |

Oh, and I assume this is a NLHUSNG. [/ QUOTE ] Yes, that's right. I usually prefer to bet and take it down, but sometimes wonder if I'm being paranoid by always assuming that the other guy has a good draw. The situation gets more complicated when you flop bottom or middle pair. In the absence of reads, you feel that you probably have the best hand but you aren't sure, and don't really want to build a huge pot by betting heavily. |

Re: How much do you fear draws?
80% A (btw dont consider a 2/3 pot bet 'Big'), never B or C...Dont know what D would have to be, 20% E, bet half the pot.

You're not just trying to take the pot down, you're trying to get value from worse hands. I mean, if you don't bet out here, when ARE you going to get chips in the pot? You need to get as many of the other guy's chips in the pot as possible if they are ever going to make it across the table to your stack, and this is a perfect time. Bet! |

2/3 MINIMUM. I'll probably bet pot if OOP.

Re: How much do you fear draws? (NLTRN)
No point betting 1/3 pot here because any hand he calls with that bet he'll probably also call with a 2/3 bet. I sometimes just bet 1/2 pot so as to disguise my c bets which are normally 1/2 pot.
Also if he does suckout on you with a gutshot or whatever, at least you get that fuzzy glow of 'I gave him the wrong odds, he made the mistake not me' |
