Reloadable Prepaid Credit Card for Spouse
I am looking to get a reloadable prepaid credit card for my spouse. I have Googled around, and not found anything great. Ideally, the card would:
Have a low annual fee Be reloadable via EFT from a checking account(s). Have no fees for loading and purchases. Have low fees for ATM withdrawals. Not allow overdrafts (and associated fees) - just reject the purchase. Have a minimum of other nuisance fees. All suggestions / trip reports are appreciated. |

Why do you want this? [/ QUOTE ] To enforce a family budget, obviously. Something the CC companies & banks have no interest in helping you with. So I doubt this product is available. The traditional solution is to use cash. |

If you get a credit card and just send them a check, you will have a credit(not debt). You then would spend up to $0 balance? Or are you looking for something that wont work if you dont have a credit?

Re: Reloadable Prepaid Credit Card for Spouse
Why not use a Visa debit card instead? That should work pretty much like a credit card where they also take Visa credit cards. And it meets or exceeds all your requirements.

Re: Reloadable Prepaid Credit Card for Spouse
Yes, to help manage (or enforce, I suppose) the family budget. Unfortunately, one can't use cash for everything (online purchases, event tickets, etc.).
There are several good products out there designed for parents and teens, but the card recipient has to be a dependent under 21. The US Bank Visa Buxx card is designed for that situation, I'll have to find out if the cardholder can be a spouse. Actually, ePassporte isn't too bad when it comes to fees if you just use it a a prepaid Visa ($35 annual fee, $2 to load by EFT). However, I understand that EFT loads can take a while, and you're not protected like you are with a credit card. I appreciate all your suggestions. |

I doubt that will really work though since there are numerous ways to spend money you dont have. I personally think that practicing some self control would go much further. |

Re: Reloadable Prepaid Credit Card for Spouse
This is the best one I have found:
https://www.obopay.com/consumer/ Pros - reloadable, very low fees, signup bonus, many load/withdraw options. Cons - $300/day load limit, $200/day spending limit. I signed up both myself and the spouse. |
