Default help settle craps bet with friend!!!

I've got $20 riding on this so PLZ help settle this (rent is due)!

Can you place your bets in a certain way on the craps table that gets you an edge (or even break even) against the house?

(ps I say no, but he believes that if you place some on 6 and some on 8 you have an edge over the house....)

(pps he's read books on this)

not legally I don't think. if no one catches you, one could try and sneak chips onto the don't pass after a point is made.

people have discussed the pass/don't pass/12 high idea before, but that doesn't work either because the 12 is only good for one roll at a time.

this reminds me. Once I was wandering through a casino smoking a cigar and stopped off at a table to play a bit. As soon as the point was rolled, the pit boss pointed out the small "no smoking" sign that was only on this one table and asked me to find another one. I say fine, can I have my bet back? I guess I was too eager or he could see the gears turning in my brain because he let me play through the point.

I know your friend is not thinking this way at all, but....

If you are on a table where someone is playing the pass line and he lets you place Odds behind his wager, then You do have an advantage.

I have never seen this occur though

Wrong. Your friend letting you put odds $ behind his original pass line wager only dilutes the house advantage % of your total action, but does not put it in your favor. Odds bets are exactly a 0%, even money wager, so it doesn't affect your original passline bet one bit. Even if ALL you did was bet odds bets behind people who had bet pass line bets, you would win/lose exactly $0.000 in the long run.

Only a few ways to have craps be a +EV game:
1. Cheat
2. Precision shooting
3. Become psychic
4. If you consider things like free drinks and comps, it could be considered +EV

Three crap non-negative advantage plays:

1) If a player playing the pass line does not take odds (or does not take full odds) and allows you to place odds. The player is taking all the house edge, you are getting a break even 0 EV bet.

2) Sometimes don't players will "call off" a number. Sometimes you can convince them to not call their bets off, but allow you to buy them. Once a don't point is established, you have the advantage. Give the player the amount of his bet, and if it wins tell him you get to collect it.

3) Some Casinos (in some parts of Canada, on cruise boats, etc.) have a closing time. When the closing time comes, all gambling must stop. At the craps table, the box will announce "Last Roll" or "Just Three More Rolls". Bet on the come. You have the advantage on the come-out roll. After the roll, if there is no decision, all the remaining bets are returned to the players and the table closed.
