Default The Godfather: Best Trilogy of All Time...but which is the best?

The title says it all...all 3 Godfather films kept us in awe, with Marlon Brando as Vito Corleone in Godfather I, Robert DeNiro playing young Vito in Godfather II, and a tremendous performance by Al Pacino as the new head of the Corleone family in Godfather III.

Which one is your favorite, and why? Discuss. Gogogogogoogogoo

Godfather III is ridiculously underrated.

I enjoyed II alot, probably my favorite. I've only seen the first two, but have been very hesitant to see the third. I've heard bad rumors about it. The first two were excellent films though.

Can't really explain why I liked the second more than the first. I'll have to rewatch it. I remember DeNiro being excellent (and Pacino as well).

If I could make a wish, it would be that Coppola re-edit I & II, and weave Deniro's early Don days (in flashback form) into Godfather I.

That would actually make more sense than having the origin story in II.

I completely agree! Every time I say that I really like III, people give me a weird look. I LOVE the ending and how it ties everything together, the scene after the opera. All three movies are just so well made, and the cast is just amazing, with Al Pacino, Marlon Brando, Robert DeNiro, Andy Garcia, Robert Duvall, James Caan, Diane Keaton and John Cazale, everybody was just amazing. Killer cast.

Absolutely, Godfather III is definately a good movie and it ends the saga very well. All that complaining about Sofia Coppola is really tiresome because she isn't in very many scenes. I guess this is just one of those things that people exaggarate to make a point (GF III not as brilliant as the first two, therefore it is shiit) and people bandwagoning "the public opinion".

Oh my god, did you guys even see Godfather III? The acting was bad at best and the story was easily the weakest of the three. Sofia Coppola was quite possibly the worst choice ever to play Michael's daughter. Compared to how epic the first two were the third one is horribly disappointing and is rightfully the worst of the three. To claim it is the best is like claiming ROTJ is the best starwars movie.

I watched II last night and, if push came to shove, would probably have to admit that it's the best of the three. But I voted for I because it's my favorite movie of all-time, including everything. I can't really describe how electrifying it was to see for the first time in the theater.

I didn't vote for III, and I think it is clearly the worst of the three movies. III is still a pretty good movie.
