Default National Debt

Low content, just a link I came across, thought I'd share. Truly mind-boggling. Feel free to discuss any money supply/national debt issues.

If every man, woman, and child in the U.S. ponied up 30k, we could pay that debt down.

Does anyone have any idea what the total assets of the US would be? Just the land value seems like it might be enough to knock down most of it.

The debt figure isn't that bad as a percentage of GDP and yes, I know that is the Republican argument. What they and others aren't telling you is the amount of hidden unfunded debt which will become due in the next 10 years as the baby boomers start retiring.

That's the scary part---I wouldn't worry about the national debt too much now--worry about what's not on the books, sort of like Enron.

When is a pyramid scheme legal? Only when the government does it. Do as we say and not as we do should be the motto of Congress.

That clock actually started running backwards when Clinton was in office.
