Windows XP vs Windows 2000
Windows 2000 has the benefit over Windows XP that it takes less resources. Does Windows XP have any benefits over Windows 2000?

Not if you're just playing poker and listening to mp3s or something.

Re: Windows XP vs Windows 2000
More hardware runs on XP out of the box than on 2000. If you are just going to be playing poker or games or whatever there isn't much reason to spend more money on 2000, especially if you have to ask what the benefits would be.

Re: Windows XP vs Windows 2000
Why would you ever want to use 2000 over XP? 2000 is one of the best OS's ever made, but I would never use it unless it was for a specific domain environment.

Re: Windows XP vs Windows 2000
I was a big fan of 2000 due to its stability until XP Service Pack 2 was released. I am pretty comfortable with XP now and would recommend you use it over 2000. At this point, XP is a very mature and stable OS. One good reason is that current hardware no longer supports 2000 so you will run into less issues in that regard. Just stay away from IE7 and use XP SP2 and you will be ok.
