$55 - JJ - Level 2
Villain is a high vpiper, low pfr-er. On the previous hand, this guy had raised to 80 as the first to enter the pot, I called with TT. We checked the flop through, and I bet my improved hand on the turn, and he folded.

Re: $55 - JJ - Level 2
If I raise this preflop, I'm raising to more than 80. 100-120 bare minimum. If you raise to 80, all you're doing is making the pot slightly bigger and harder to give up on the flop. When I raise preflop, I like to make it a hard decision for my opponent. 80 doesn't make it a hard decision for him.

I still like to make the decsion a little tough for him. Why give him good odds at all?

probably not. [/ QUOTE ] A very good rule of thumb is to never try this at the $55's. And pf needs to be bigger fo sho. |

Re: $55 - JJ - Level 2
How do you know he has a weak ace?
And no, if he is willing to limp, then called a raise OOP with a weak ace preflop... then I'm guessing that's his dream flop and he isn't folding for nothing. |

Who said I'm afraid? But lets face it, any overcard comes and you're potentionally in trouble. I'm just saying, if you're going to raise, at least make it a real raise. It's pretty much the same reason good players never min-raise early on.

I don't think anything is gonna keep this guy from calling (if that's you're objective) unless you're in the 130-175 range. And as I said, it's not my objective, to keep him out of the pot. My objective is to play a small pot with as few people as possible. I mean, I raise more, and I'm in the same boat, unless it folds around, and then, big deal. |
