Default 200 NL....Bad run with AA

I'm not the best player in the world, but even a I should be able to win money with aces. In my last 134 times with AA, I've lost $474.65, -0.89BB/hand. Just wondering if anyone else has some bad runs with aces to share that will make me feel better.

My standard answer here is... you must be playing at FT

But seriously, what % of time did you win with them out of the 134?

I had a winning % of 82, and a PFR% of 90, so I certainly haven't been limping em.

How often did you stack off against a set where you didn't 3-bet pre? How often did you 3-bet them pre?

So you are winning your fair share. Concentrate on the big hands you lost and ask yourself why.

Looks like you are probably stacking off to sets very often and only winning small pots otherwise. You may have a problem with pot control with big pairs (this is only speculation). If you are not in the habit of checking behind on the turn on a dry board (when you're getting action), you might want to utilize this more often. It will help minimize your losses when you are drawn out on and induce bluffs on the river.

Force yourself to look at AA differently when it is dealt to you. It's just, well, a pair of aces.

How often do you see people winning huge pots with just a pair of aces? Probably not that often.

Unless you get it all-in preflop proceed with caution, especially if you're OOP in a multi-way pot. Most people have a very tough time laying down AA when they are facing resistance on a low garbage flop.

Think about it, would this guy really raise you with just top pair? Most likely not. So unless you improve your aces in a multi-way pot, be prepared to dump them.

I don't mean automatically dump them if you're OOP in a multiway pot, but pay close attention to the action. I'm sure if you went through the 150 times you had aces you will find several where you lost your whole stack when you clearly shouldn't have.

Just keep that in mind the next time you get AA.
