Default TPTK after oop cold-caller 3/6

I had been at the table for about 50 hands or so and it was the first I had played with the villian. He was running at 36/20 and playing aggro but hadn't shown down anything insane.

I was playing pretty nitty.

Full Tilt 3/6
Seat 4: HoosierAlum ($633.60)
Seat 5: VILLIAN ($584)

Dealt to HoosierAlum [Ad Qc]
UTG+1 lagggy raises to $21, HoosierAlum (button) raises to $72, VILLIAN (sb) calls $69, UTG+1 folds

*** FLOP *** J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
VILLIAN checks
HoosierAlum checks
*** TURN *** 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
VILLIAN pots $171
HoosierAlum calls $171
*** RIVER *** 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
Villain bets $341, and is all in

HoosierAlum vomits....

I would make a continuation bet of 2/3 pot on the flop and be done with the hand if he doesnt fold.

As played I would also fold river.

Yeah, I'd fold river, especially if he made the bet fairly quickly. It looks like a hand that really wants to get money in the pot.

Do you even play poker ?

Now its of course very read dependent blablabla. Default is to call and be happy about it though (of course... you have TPTK, he could be value betting worse hand here)

I would play that hand in the following way :
Bet/bet/bet allin. If I got raised at any point I would go allin.

I would prefer probe-sized continuation bet(35 % of the pot). Main idea is to control size of the pot and make AK fold. He must be afraid of QQ or JJ when you bet that weak. So he should usually just call with overpair. If he check-raises you can savely release.

(Probe-sized bets work well against strangers who have no idea of your betting patterns but against strong regulars they should be used with caution.)

If he calls flop and checks turn take free turn card. (Against straight-forward bit weak-tightish players you could bet strong to make overpair fold. But it requires good reads. Against LAG free card is best option.)

River is still difficult decision if he leads. But usually you can fold to strong bet against unknown who has yet not done anything strange post-flop.

WTF? Why would we want AK to fold?

Also, I never bet....
