Olympic Judging Question

I'm in a debate with some people and want to know how the Olympic judges are selected. If I can get a link that would be even better. I'm talking about the sports with judges, not officials. Thanks.

Every country that has athletes competing in a judged sport sends a judge.

And how are those judges selected to be one of the final judges? How do they choose the one judge from their country?
I have to win this arguement.

There does not appear to be any one link. Judges are chosen differently for different events from what I can tell from massive googling and peering at olympics.org....
