I think he means rake vs. time charge.

My understanding is a rake is pretty universal at 1/2, though I've only personally played at the Venetian and Caesar's.

NL is not described by the max buy in. That is an internet thing. NL games in Vegas are described by the blinds (i.e. 1/2, 2/5, 5/10, etc)

All 1/2NL games in Vegas are raked, as are the 2/5 games. Time collection usually starts at the 5/10 (uncapped) level.

1/2 usually has a $200-300 max.
2/5 usually has a 500-1K max
5/10 is usually uncapped.

What Vegas rooms have a $500 cap at 2/5? I'd like to try moving up to 2/5, but would prefer to start with a lower max buy-in than $1000.

2/5 with $500 max is commonly found at Bellagio, MGM and Ballys (when they get it going on the weekend).

TI has a $500 max on the 1/3NL, and Caesars has a $500 max on the 1/2NL. The TI game plays like a 2/5 most fo the time.

Here is a link to all the maxes everywhere in Vegas, from the limits page at allvegaspoker.com:

Yes N/L games are classed by Blinds. But I am surrounded by ace raggers here where I live who class N/L B&M games by cap. I obviously have fallen into the mindset as well.
Thats terrifying.
I heard rumors some N/L games above 1/2 in vegas use rake instead of time charge so I`m curious as to the real situation.

The real situation is all NL1/2 and 2/5 that I know of in Vegas is raked. 10% up to $4, $1 jackpot drop sometimes depending on the casino. This answers your original question about $200 and $500 NL games, they are all raked.
