MP is 16/14/4 over 220 hands. I have been 3bet light preflop a lot.

SB ($130.70)
Hero ($201.20)

I bet $40, you are still getting possible action from weaker hands such as KQ, suited spades, and possibly JJ.

If villain pushes the contination bet, its read dependent, prolly a fold.

any non spade turn that isnt straigtening, and i push turn....i think.

this hand is horrible OOP.

I advocate leading at almost all flops that you 3-bet preflop whether you hit them or miss. However, this is a pretty good place to check-call because you have to balance out your plays when you check and continue the hand.

This is a good place because the flop isn't that drawy. You probably won't get called by a worse hand except for one bet. You have the back door flush draw to the nuts. I'd check-call the flop. If it get's checked behind, I'd lead for 2/3 pot on the turn.

you're mainly way ahead (vs AK, JJ(TT)) or way behind (AA, KK, QQ) and your opponent is drawing to very few outs. as Paul said, I'D c/c the flop to sometimes get money out of JJ(TT) or even AK if villain is very aggro and keep the pot small against the high PP's. You should definitely know where you stand by the turn.

Note that this is an alternative way to play the hand, I'd mix it up between leading out 40-45 and c/c depending on villain/history/image.

Aggainst aggresive opponents you should bet here and hope to induce a raise.

Against passive players check/calling is ok too.

Betting $40 is standard, IMO. If anything, checking will only make you look even stronger. I think his range is pretty wide as it's 5-handed and he may have called you because of position.
