Default pf decision vs straddle

Utg is a loose and mostly passive player. Sb is a lag and bb is tight.

Utg straddles and it folds around to me on the button with 87s. I...?

you should only call if both blinds won't fold to a 3bet. folding is a distant third.

Wow, I see a hand with no showdown value with no pot against an opponent who's going to show down with the live straddle. I guess I'm just an insta-mucking, weak tight something.

Maybe not instamucking, but I would probably convince myself to muck.

I don't understand. Why? We have position, a strong hand compared to UTG's random hand, and we are probably stronger postflop than stradler.

lol, we don't have a strong hand vs anybody. this is the kind of hand we want multiway, not hu which is what 3betting is probably going to make happen

UTG is loose and passive. These are the types of player you want to isolate with position. Threebet. Get it HU and take it down on the flop when no one flops anything. Why don't you want to get HU with a fish in position when said fish has a random hand? I dunno, this seems like a spot to play the player.

sure, i understand isolating fish and having position; i just like doing it with some kind of hand with showdown value, say a decent pocket pair, overs, or ace-high. we're likely going to have to go to the river right?

We'll have showdown value when we flop our flush.

We certainly don't HAVE to go to the river, especially against a loose passive.
