Thinking of starting a blog...
Not really sure where to post this, but I was wondering what the best way to go about starting a blog would be.

Re: Thinking of starting a blog...
Go to blogger.com and signup.
You just started your first blog. Blog about anything that interests you. For the first couple of weeks you should be making at least a 200 word entry daily if possible. If you find you can continue the blogging on a daily basis then look into hosting it on your own domain and monitizing it. |

Re: Thinking of starting a blog...
As per JoshK's response, if you end up wanting your own domain name after already putting a bunch of posts into Blogger, Blogger has a means of FTPing your blog pages onto your own web hosting space.

You can also use RSS feeds from your site to dump it into a wordpress blog in the future

Re: Thinking of starting a blog...
Does the site give information on how many views you get, etc.? I've heard some things about pay-per-click advertising where sites with heavy traffic like certain blogs can generate money or something, though to be honest I'm not exactly knowledgable on this whole subject. My point is, I'd really only want to do this if it actually got read.

Re: Thinking of starting a blog...
If you put out decent content and advertise it a little bit, it will get read. You can use google analytics to track traffic, and you can use adsense, among other things, to generate some income.

Re: Thinking of starting a blog...
Hmm...sounds like a potential go. However, I'm not sure how much demand there would be for a young small stakes poker player's blog lol. I'm not really sure what else to blog about. Academia is boring so that's out. Maybe I'll wait on this until I get some better ideas.

Re: Thinking of starting a blog...
are you kidding me? Yea recreational players like hearing about the big pots and big tourney wins...but what are they really? They are the NL25, NL50 and NL100 players. Yea most of them may not even read poker blogs but if you advertised the blog, some small time players will trickle in. I had a blog about small time SNG playing (which I am sure no one here read). I had some nice comments about me being a low limit guy that identifies with other low limit players. I have played in NL4000 games and did well, but I sure enjoy playing the 11 dollar tourneys and lower. Easy to pick out players mistakes (which I listed in the blog.)
A well advertised low limit blog or low buy in SNG or MTT blog should be popular enough to merit adsense ads. Once neteller screwed up I took the blog down. |

Re: Thinking of starting a blog...
Right, I think this is the one thing a smaller stakes blog would have in its favor: the people reading it can actually relate to its material. I agree completely: those reading the big-time players' blogs are probably mostly small stakes players. So I assume you'll be reading if I start it up? lol
