Default Philly lets Garcia go

What does anyone think of this?

Thew move seems pretty odd to me after Garcia's performance last year. It sounds like Garcia wanted to stay. He said he was comfortable with a backup role and being paid as a backup. Why wouldn't they even negotiate with him before signing Feeley? Were they just trying to avoid the whole QB controversy mess that would have occurred the first time McNabb put up a bad game?

it does seem strange because he embraced the backup role...with that in mind, i think this move was to help mcnabb and his confidence as i'm sure it's not reassuring for him having to look over his shoulder...

still, nobody really expected garcia to challenge mcnabb for the QB spot...

EDIT: still hard as hell to find quality backups at QB, so man, the eagles really wanted to avoid a future controversy...

Garcia needs to join a team either that has a good solid starter or a team with some great parts around him preferably in a West Coast Offense type setting. He isn't going to salvage a bad team without any weapons.

I really hope the Vikings don't sign him.

Feeley is younger, cheaper, and probably almost as good. Eagles have too many needs to waste money on a backup that is barely better than their third stringer.

When was Feeley any good. Jeff was pretty damn solid last year. In brief stints with Philly in the Feeley played well. Just like Jeff with marginal guys around him, he blows as seen by his stint in Miami as psuedo starter. I think Jeff fits their system better than most QBs in the league. He is a very good WCO QB. AJ can't run. WCO QBs do much better if they can.
