Default Whatever happened to the David Sklansky Challenge?

I was reading some forums talking about how David Sklansky challenged a Christian to beat him on the SAT/GRE math portions of the test. Supposedly Ken Jennings accepted, but it seems the thread has been deleted since. Did anyone ever take him up on it? If not, I'm interested in accepting his challenge-I'm pretty sure I would pass the polygraph, and it is impossible to beat either my GRE or SAT scores. Cutting the time in half wouldn't matter either because I finished both of them in less than that. I'm still a graduate student and unable to put up the cash; maybe someone would be willing to book my action.

In his blog, Ken wanted to just fax his scores over, which didn't match the stipulations David laid out in the original post (quoted on other web pages). Given that the thread is now deleted, I have no way of knowing whether David agreed to Ken's terms, given that he is a Mormon, not an evangelical, and his agreement to terms other than what David stipulated.

Idiotic bet. Perfect SAT/GRE math scores are no big deal whatsoever. I'm positive I could find at least a dozen people on my campus alone meeting the religious criteria who have aced the math sections.

I can see why Slansky ran away from this - I would gladly take his action. GRE 800 math, half time is a joke (1/10th time might make it an interesting exercise in estimation), and I'm most definitely a Christian.

Sounds like Dave offered a bad bet, and got action he didn't want.

just being a Christian wasn't the stipulation

According to the Ken Jennings blog (only evidence, since Slansky ran away apparently) I would have to pass a polygraph on two questions:

(someone who can pass a polygraph test as a believer that Jesus was resurrected, and that non-Christians won’t go to heaven)

[/ QUOTE ]

Assuming that's an accurate representation of the challenge, I can pass that polygraph (to the degree that anyone can pass any polygraph) and Slansky can't easily outscore me as the chances of me missing even a single math question at that level are very low, and missing one doesn't usually pull your score off 800.

The real question is how he intends to handle ties. He may be counting on an 800-800 push to save his ass, which is just plain cowardly.

haaaaahahaha ken jennings is so typically mormon. im currently living in slc so i meet a lot of these guys, and on the whole they are quite opinionated, bland, blindly happy people. which is fine. however ken jennings is rediculously smart, at memorizing things. but it seems he may have a bit of intuition. he tore sklansky a new [censored] in his blog and even though he didnt agree to terms hes already won the bet. sklansky- ship it, u have been had
