Live action: Dallas or Chicago?

My work just announced that I am going to be transfered to Dallas, or Chicago, and that they want my input on which I would prefer. Anyone have any positive or negative expirences with poker rooms/casinos in either area? Does Dallas even have card rooms or casinos???

there are casinos just across the Oklahoma border - 45 min drive or so depending on which part of dallas. There are cardrooms in dallas but you are going to have to meet someone that plays there to get in most likely. The card room at winstar (Ok) is full of fish.

There are no "legal" cardrooms in Dallas. There is a pretty nice room just across the Okla border though. Its about an hour north of Dallas.

They have around 30 tables and its rocking close to 24 hours a day. They have more games going than most Vegas rooms because its the only legal place to play anywhere near the Dallas metroplex which is pretty big.

I was born and raised there and consider the city the best in the world. Very fun town with amazing food. The pizza is second to none. There's a threat in OOT about Chicago (I think it's there, anyway).

Poker scene -- like Dallas, you have to go to the border in Indiana or to other remote cities outside of Chicago. They have full-blown casinos with poker rooms that have pretty solid stakes and not-as-solid players.

Chicago by a mile. Food, cultural scene, lack of rednecks -- Chicago has it all. Poker is the boats (full of mouth-breathing apes) and private games, of which there are quite a few. Chicago is the greatest city on earth.

Sounds like chi town is better from a poker standpoint, and i have always had a blast visiting there as well. Dallas is nice, but a 1.3 hr drive to cards?

Lived in both for more than 10 years each.....

Dallas by far.... no snow, very hot (hawt) women, better travel and traffic. Plenty of cardrooms around once you get settled in.

If you are going to be doing any traveling Dallas is your place.
The weather in Dallas is awesome.
Ladies - well it is Texas.
Dallas has plenty of poker, you will find some spots to play.

Dallas has the Cowboys - Chicago has the Bears (okay 1 for Chicago)
Dallas would be the place for me.
