ATs in BB vs. UTG raise
I learn the most when I post hands I think I fcked up, so here is one I feel like i blew.
This started bad, and then got worse. I cannot RR OOP from the BB with ATs (can I?). On flop, I thought check raise/call down, since I have a pr, and villain will raise here w. AT+, KQ, TT+ (Villain is 15/4/1 over 300). But then I pussied out cuz of his tightness. Pretty much talked myself into a completely passive lame line, which sucks, though if I am behind, I dont lose much. THanks in advance, Todd PokerStars 0.50/1.00 Hold'em (7 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver) Preflop: Hero is BB with T, A. UTG raises, 5 folds, Hero calls. Re: ATs in BB vs. UTG raise
I don't mind this at all. You have a weak made hand with two weak backdoor draws. Nothing to start fighting with and nothing you can downright fold.

Re: ATs in BB vs. UTG raise
With a tight player raising UTG I'd expect you to be behind most of their range here. When they check the turn though it makes me want to bet/fold the river.

Re: ATs in BB vs. UTG raise
This hand is interesting! He of course doesn't know what we have, but what 2 cards does he raise UTG that we beat. AA-TT, AK-AT, KQ...
If he bets the river, aren't we folding? |

Re: ATs in BB vs. UTG raise
At 4% overall he is likely lower UTG, probably only TT+ and AQs+. Given that, a PF fold would have been fine, as played I would have peeled the flop and folded to any turn or river bet. The way this played out he had AQs or was really passive with QQ afraid of the K on the flop. I can't see a value bet on the River unless he would call with the AQs.

Re: ATs in BB vs. UTG raise
I cannot think of a single hand on the villains range that we can beat except maybe 99. He must have stepped out of line here by raising with some Axs of spades kind of hand.
So I think you played this perfectly. Villain played this far worse than you. You would have folded this on later streets if he had shown more aggression. |

[/ QUOTE ] If he bet the river, I was hoping to find a fold. Especially since the Jack is an out for AJ, one of the 2 hands I am ahead of (AQ and AJ) on the turn. |

Re: ATs in BB vs. UTG raise
Todd,
What range do you put him on after he checks through the turn? Curious why you think your line is so lame... |

Re: ATs in BB vs. UTG raise
I'd c/r the flop and go from there, if he three bets, then i likely c/f the turn.
This isn't a hand to go WA/WB on so thats out of the equation. You should get aggressive because this guy is tight. If he has AK,AA,KK you'll know about it and you can bail on the turn. If he has AQ,AJ he'll fold and you win. Because of his tightness, who knows, he might fold QQ or JJ if you play this aggressively. |
