Governor trumps state climatologist
[ QUOTE ]
State distances itself from climatologist Minner directs Legates not to use his title when speaking on climate change By Jeff Montgomery The News Journal WILMINGTON, Del. — Gov. Ruth Ann Minner has directed Delaware's state climatologist to stop using his title in public statements on climate change, citing a clash of views on global warming and confusion over the position's ties to the administration. Minner, who made the directive in a letter, described the move as a way to "clarify" the role of David R. Legates, a prominent skeptic of views that human activities are warming the planet and triggering climate shifts. [/ QUOTE ] Be a parrot or be quiet, so sez DE Governor. Sadly, science holds little sway in this state house. All the ugly facts here. |

Re: Governor trumps state climatologist
[ QUOTE ]
But Legates received no appointment or state moneyto support his office at the University of Delaware, where he is also a professor of geography. His position as climatologist carries no state authority. Last year, however, Legates used the "State Climatologist" title when he co-wrote a friend-of-the-court legal brief opposing an attempt by Delaware and other states to force federal regulation of greenhouse gases. [/ QUOTE ] No. The Gov says: "You ain't an official of the state of Delaware. Quit using the title. You can say what you want, but don't use that phony title." Guess some people like to put on titles and pretend they are important. That way some idiots will listen to them. |

Edit hack job, no surprise.
[ QUOTE ] His title was accepted by the American Association of State Climatologists and the National Climatic Data Center, and acknowledged by Minner and the university's provost in 2005. Re: Governor trumps state climatologist
hack edit blah blah blah, literalist blah blah blah.
He uses a title that insinuates that he works for the administration, the administration never gave him that title, and asks that he not use it because it is causing confusion. This was especially confusing when he filed a legal brief They are not saying stop publishing, They are not pushing the university to kick him out. Sadly, I think science, nor logic has no sway over you |
