Common situation against a shortstack
I usually call in this situation because shortstack at this level tend to push if they hit any part of the flop, but I dont know if it's +ev in the long run.
Prima Poker skin No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $0.50/$1 5 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: $94.50 Hero: $353.32 Button: $32.90 SB: $65.39 BB: $61.25 Pre-flop: (5 players) Hero is CO with J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] UTG folds, Hero raises to $4, Button calls, 2 folds. Flop: 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ($9.5, 2 players) Hero bets $7, Button raises all-in $28.9, Hero ?? |

Re: Common situation against a shortstack
i can see considering ffolding is the flop is like Q 6 3 rainbow, cuz hes got a Q there a good % of the time, but here the flop is so drawheavy how can you get away from it?
is this bad logic? |

[/ QUOTE ] Yes. Being the SS, he could easily have a T or an 8, a PP, a straight draw or a flush draw. In my experience we have the best hand a decent amount of time to make it slightly +EV. |

Re: Common situation against a shortstack
You really aren't far off having direct odds to call. 4 gutshot outs, spike a J and a backdoor flush. They might not all be clean, but here's what two dimes makes of it.
http://twodimes.net/h/?z=2469273 pokenum -h jc jh - ad qc -- 8h qh tc Holdem Hi: 990 enumerated boards containing Tc Qh 8h cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV Jc Jh 280 28.28 702 70.91 8 0.81 0.287 Qc Ad 702 70.91 280 28.28 8 0.81 0.713 Your odds are $22 into a $64 pot - ok $61 after the rake. He needs to have top pair virtually always to make caling -EV. |

Re: Common situation against a shortstack
A read is helpful but plenty of shorties will shove with any ten or any draw here so calling is good.
