Default 99 on CO vs EP raise

Villain is 16/11/1.6. He had been aggressive with me in a few other heads up pots when he had some strong draws.

Not sure about cold calling preflop. Is 3-betting the better option?

On the flop I raised as I was trying to either take the pot right there, or get to showdown cheaply. I don't think I beat much at the river so the call was spew I think.

i make it 3 bets preflop.

given how you played it, gotta bet the turn and riv too. i would betfold both streets.

making it 3 bets preflop makes the hand play out differently/more easily plus you have position.

definitely 3bet this dude PF here.

I don't like how you played this post-flop. If you 3bet PF I would bet the flop, b/f the turn & check thru the river if you made it that far.

I'd fold PF. Flop is good but bet the turn.

IMO pre-flop is a clear raise or fold. Calling sucks as you'll be giving the blinds better odds to call and make the pot 3-4 ways, which is the worst possible scenario with a medium pp.
If you 3-bet the hand will play out differently with you in command. Bet the flop (if you're still in the hand).

How many hands is this read over? If it is significant you got to figure his range is primarily big pairs. If you are going to play this, which isn't a given, I think you have to 3-bet this and bet/raise this flop. Your only hope is that this guy will fold JJ, QQ, a big ace, and will c/r KK, AA. This is a risky play and folding preflop is probably better.

That's why I'm wondering how many hands this is over. An 11 from UTG is not KQo or 88 though.
