$30 QQ hand ITM
Sorry for the lack of HH here, but I'll do my best not to leave out any details.
---THE SCENARIO--- 25 or so left in a Stars $30 MTT. Blinds are 600/1200. Hero is 3rd in chips with about $35K. Chip leader has about $50K. ---THE HAND--- Hero has QQ in the BB. Medium stack (about $15K) makes it 3600 from MP, big stack($33K) immediately to raiser's left moves in. Folded to Hero. Call or fold? ---THOUGHTS--- Hero only just moved to this table once we got down to 3 tables and has no reads on villain except that he hasn't done anything crazy. I believe that there are compelling arguments for either a call or a fold. I have discussed this with a friend and we disagree on the correct play although agree it is close. Can anyone here provide me with a decisive piece of insight either way here? |

Re: $30 QQ hand ITM
Big stack appears to be isolating with a decent hand such as JJ or AQ. With big stacks behind, I discount the isolation play being AA or KK.
Call for a decent shot at the chip lead. |

Re: $30 QQ hand ITM
I put the big stack on 99+/AQ+ and call.

Re: $30 QQ hand ITM
Reasonably easy call, you are ahead of both players ranges.

Re: $30 QQ hand ITM
Sure looks like an isola0tion. As already mentioned, I think AA doesn't push here, KK might push. His stack is large enough that he can make it 9k with a premium hand and still have plenty left for the flop.
Call. |

Re: $30 QQ hand ITM
That was basically the way I was thinking too. My friend's argument was that I was behind villain's range (i.e. QQ+,AK) but yeah that is wasy too narrow.
Results: I made a good call |
