Default I go ALL IN on the First Hand

I'm up against an unknown, it's the first hand of the tourney.
Strange structure at this site: starting stacks are t1000 and blinds are 10/15.

Hero is dealt K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] in the SB.

Hero raises to t55. Villain calls.

Flop: J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

Villain checks, Hero bets t90. Villain raises to t211, Hero goes all in.

Not a big fan because you could be up against a complete donk and won't need to get your money in on a coin flip situation. If you know your opponent has a history of being aggressive or is a solid player its not so bad. But since you don't know your opponent its tough to ship it all in this early with a draw.

i'd consider just calling the flop raise since you're getting great pot odds and it's the first hand, but this isn't terrible if your opponent is pretty aggressive (not sure how you could know this already).

cwar, are you saying that on the assumption that opponents at higher buyins are more aggressive or is there another reason?

What buyin is this?

Edit: I don't know if I like it or not, I tend to favor playing a little before I gamble, unless I really know my opponent. It's not a bad move by any means, but if you look at what you could be up against it is a little more favorable than it appears. Ace high might call and that's three more outs for you, flush draw might call but you've likely got the high card if you both miss.... it's not bad, but like I said I don't like to gamble in the first set of blinds, it just doesn't usually end up good for me.

Yes and there probably more like to fold after raising, the more fold equity in this spot the better IMO.

Yeah, this is fine.

vs 1 pair, you have like 14 outs
vs an unpaired flush draw, you are ahead and he has to draw out
vs two pair, you have 8 outs.

plus he might fold (although i doubt it at this point).
