Default Clonie Gowen\'s weak play on PAD

is it just me or did Clonie seem very weak on PAD (so far this week)? ...i know she felt outclassed by guys like Gus and Ted, etc., but her continuous banter about not being good enough to take flops with these guys and checking when she was weak (and even saying she was checking because she was weak) seemed very uninspiring and amateurish to me.

i realize Clonie didn't get a lot of "good" hands early on, but still...i was disappointed by her table presence and overall game. she seemed like a nervous weak player in that game and it really didn't help to hear her even say so and just continue to fold fold fold.

i feel like she just sort of gave up in a lot of spots and wanted to just get lucky or pick up the nuts before venturing into a pot w/ anyone. i'd never seen Clonie play before, but obviously have seen and heard of her. but this particular performance so far has been disappointing. i honestly feel like she's a huge fish and probably wouldn't even last in my 5-10 or 10-20 no-limit cash game (i think most ppl would identify her as weak in my weekly games).

how do others think so far?

Against that table, she may be outclassed. Against your local 5-10 or 10-20 cash game? LOL

yeah i'd say she could prob beat 5-10 and 10-20 LIMIT too. I wouldn't put her into any 10-20 nl games though.

Not to mention she gets highly defensive when just chatting about the bad bluff attempt. She really hates to lose and you can tell with the bit of attitude that was being thrown around last night.

....Right, I agree. My original post specified 5-10 and 10-20 NO-LIMIT (not limit) cash games that I play in...my local games have players like her that get eaten alive. I think maybe she can last in a 5-10 no-limit cash game and break even and do well in 1-2 no-limit game.

But I seriously felt her play and table presence were so bad that she'd be a definite loser in my 10-20 NL local games. Having said all of that, I remember reading she was a limit specialist back in the day playing cash games...so...oh well.

Just saying though, I think her play has been pretty bad for a pro.

(p.s....Yeah, I noticed her getting defensive too last night...going on and on about her unsuccessful bluff...and cursing a few times, lol)

The only qualification for being a pro poker player is calling yourself one. So I'm not shocked that she may not be all that good. I do think all of her talk about being weak and just a girl is something I have noticed Annie Duke and Jen Harmon doing. I think they hope it causes us dumb men to soft play against them and it probably works with some average Joes. I doubt if it is going to work against Gus or Chris.
The other thing is, how bad was Tony G.'s call with Q6 given how weak she had been playing? I know he put her on the flush draw with the over bet, but still.

She played well during that fulltilt tournament a couple months ago and showed she does have some skill. Maybe cash games isn't her thing.
